In recent years, Ralf Koenemann, who used to work on very large formats, has expanded his palette to include smaller canvas formats and editions with a unique character.
Art Affair has been associated with Ralf Koenemann for more than 20 years and numerous exhibitions. The Essen-based artist constantly pursues an idiosyncratic path with his painting, which utilizes many techniques and a great deal of material. His canvases, which are often very large, frequently begin with two-dimensional pours, followed by drip and drop techniques, coarse-grained painting and accentuated color highlights. With dynamic, moving processes, canvases sometimes lie on the floor and are quickly hung on the wall again for further processing. The results are impressive, expressive paintings in motion.
Ralf Koenemann is often wrongly labeled as the German exotic animal painter. However, the catalogue raisonné of Ralf Koenemann’s work shows a versatility across his themes of nature, man and animal.
